Mom's caramel popcorn

1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup butter
1/4 cup Caro syrup
One half teaspoon salt
Bring to a boil, soft ball stage, about 234°

Add one half teaspoon baking soda and a bit of vanilla. Stir up and pour over air popped popcorn with all the unpopped kernels removed.
